Week 43 | "GET BUSY"

Hey Everyone! It has actually been a pretty good week. I don't have a ton of time to tell you all about it, but I guess I can tell you some of the highlights.

This Wednesday we had our zone conference. President Browning's mission president came! His name is President Fenn. It was quite the talk he gave. Telling us all to be more obedient and that we can do better and then, the best part was that he said that when we get home we need to "GET BUSY". Wow, I was not expecting that. He just said that when he went home from his mission he was married a month later and then 9 months after that they had a baby. And he said we all need to do the same ðŸ˜‚

Okay, but the rest of Zone Conference was actually really good. I learned a lot from President Browning. And it was way fun because it was a half mission conference. So all of the Tucson zones got together. Got pictures with my zone and then also all the missionaries that came out with me. They also had monster size watermelons, so a few of us stayed for a watermelon eating contest. It was good.

Billy took us out to lunch again this week. Always so much fun going out to eat with Billy
We also got to go see Dennis in the hospital. He is a recent convert and he is also our next door neighbor. He is the greatest!! Everything is fine now. But when we went we got so hopelessly lost. I mean, like it is stupid how lost we were in that hospital.

(hey, I have to go to dinner, but I will see if I can finish this email tonight)

Week 42 | I know that stuff happened

Hello everyone in the real world!
This week was pretty good! Sister Cooper and I worked really hard this week to hit all of our goals. And it was amazing that as we prayed continually to be able to reach our goals and as we were able to see so many miracles and we were able to talk to so many people. It was awesome.
I am really excited because we just set 2 baptismal dates and they are super solid.
Not gonna lie. I don't have much to say about this week. I know that stuff happened but I can't really remember anything.
Sorry, I'm too tired this week!
Love you all,
Sister Grant

Week 41 | What country am I in?

Happy Mother's Day!

This week was different. We have been finding people from all over the world which has been really cool! We found a refugee family from Syria. They are the sweetest people! Before our lesson with them sister Cooper and I had to take a trip to the mission office, so I got to do some digging and found a Book of Mormon in Arabic pretty much every pamphlet there is in Arabic. It was the coolest lesson I've ever been apart of. The parents speak practically no English, so the kids do all the translating. But we kept it very simple and we showed a video of Christ. And for every attribute it talked about, we wrote it in Arabic. I've never used Google translate so much in my life! We also have been teaching these 2 guys that speak Swahili which has been fun. So I've been picking up on little phrases here and there in different languages. We are also about to set a baptismal date with a woman who pretty much only speaks Portuguese, her English is pretty rough. Not that it is a different language, but we also started teaching a blind woman and she reads Braille. I don't know, I just love Tucson! It's so diverse here! So many people from all over the world. I've been able to speak a little in ASL, I feel like I am learning so much. It's so much fun. Because there are 4 sisters in this ward I think we can actually pull it off, but we are going to start an English class. Because they are teaching people that speak other languages. I'm just so excited because I never thought I'd get an opportunity like this in the states.

Sister Miller and I (one of the other sisters in this ward) came out together and because we just hit our 9 months we lit some dresses on fire at a members house. It was cool. We just got some from the dead sisters closet (the stuff sisters leave behind when they move). I have to say, it was much better than my last fire!

Oh yeah, Billy took us out to lunch this week! He loves the missionaries and he is at the mission office all the time. He is a member and goes around and takes different missionaries to lunch all the time. He is kinda the mission Grandpa. He brought us presents and took us to olive garden, we are pretty spoiled haha

Hope you all have a fantastic week

Week 40 | DEFINITELY not in Thatcher anymore

Crazy week no doubt. But I love Sister Cooper, she is pretty great. My new area is so different. I'm DEFINITELY not in Thatcher anymore. The city is insane. It is a car share area, so we get the car when we need it and then the other sisters get the car when they need it. It is super nice, but it's about to get stupid hot. So I don't know how well everyone is going to play... This week was in the low 100's and its just barely getting started. I can't say I am too excited for that, but we'll still have fun.
The work here is so different. I miss Thatcher, no doubt, but there are so many people to talk to now!! I only cover half of a ward here and there, but there is sooo much work. It is amazing! We have already taught some amazing lessons. We taught this one lady who is from Brazil, so she doesn't speak much English. But we have a member that comes with us that speaks Portuguese. It was such a powerful lesson. We taught her about the Restoration and she was very receptive and we even invited her to pray about baptism. So we are going back on Friday and are going to set a date with her. It has just been a really fun week.
Great news. NO MORE BUGS!!! We have a super nice apartment, probably one of the nicest in the mission. And the AC works, I don't have to worry about scorpions or cockroaches or any of those nasty bois getting in my bed anymore! I sleep like a baby at night.
Today has been super fun. Because we are in the city there are actually things to go do around here. So some of the sisters got together and went to play mini golf. It was a blast. And of course I am just happy to be reunited with my dear sister Williamson.
I feel like soooo much happened this week, but there is not a ton to really say. It has just been a ton of adjusting on my part. I am used to like 4 cars or so being on the road, now I am biking through more like 4 lanes of traffic. So I definitely have to be more careful, people here are like Utah drivers. Can be a little scary lol!
I also got to see some of the other sisters when they came down for a Leadership meeting which was fun. I am sad that Sister Gadd and I are not together. We have only been apart for 1 transfer, and it was the shortest transfer of the year. But I am excited to get to do more with the sisters here.

I hope you are all doing well! Have a great week!
Love,

Sister Grant
